Is it safe to mount a 52' flat screen tv over a wood burning fireplace?
I'm moving into an apartment that has a wood burning fireplace and not enough space for an entertainment center in the livingroom. The leasing agent said that it would be ok to mount a tv over the fireplace with their permission. Is this a safe option to put your tv? I've heard of people mounting their tv over the fireplace, but I still have safety concerns about it.
While technically feasible, I would not recommend it. I have visited several homes with their flat screen mounted over the fireplace mantle.
Even after only a couple of hours I leave with a sore neck from looking up so high. It's just not a natural viewing angle.
