Frame Portrait
How do you frame a large portrait?
The portrait is a 16 x 20. I have a frame and I would like to try to frame it myself. Does anyone know what framers use to keep the portrait in place?
I neglected to mention the portrait is already on a mat board (can't remember the term, but you do not use glass....its not canvas, but something to that effect). I am not using a mat.
Well.. a 16 X 20 is not THAT large but... if you can get the frame.. it should be a litltle larger of course than the picture itself.. In view that the picture(portrait) is a BIG larger than usual, your matt that you use(of a color of your choosing and to match the room decor) should not be more than 1 or 1 1/2"...(I am talking about the margin).... thus... you take your picture and place it ON the matting that is about 17 or 17 1/2" by 21 or 21 1/2 inches and put your frame on it.... Thus, when you look at the new portrait, you will see the FRAME, the 1" or so matting.... then the beginning of the portrait. Make sure that the matting you choose is color coordinated with the other things in your room.. wall colors, etc otherwise it would look out of place... Oh yes.. the matting boardyou would have to get at a Picture Frame shop
